A half day introductory course for anyone who wants to gain the basic knowledge and skills to repair dry stone walls. A practical session with added information on how to take the craft further if you wish.

The course will cover

• How to work safely

• The basic principles of dry stone walling

• Grading stone and rebuilding a section of wall

A great introduction to dry stone walling, either for projects at home, gaining another skill, learning outdoors or changing career! You will learn the basics of the craft and a chance to find out how to take things further if you think walling might be the life for you! Your tutor is a professional waller who will help you on your way.

The course involves physical activity on uneven ground and you will be required to wear steel toe capped boots. However if you do not have any, we may be able to lend you some, please ask on arrival. You will also need strong gardening type gloves and robust clothing appropriate to the weather conditions. If you have them, a pair of safety glasses and/or a tape measure may be handy too.
