Finding the Way on the Portway

  • Derbyshire Eco Centre CIC Porter Lane Matlock, England, DE4 4LS United Kingdom (map)

Evening talk: 2nd December 7-9pm

Max no - 25

Price £6.50

This ancient Portway trading route once ran along 'Porter Lane' right past the Eco Centre and continued to Mam Tor.

While much of this ‘way’ is steeped in mystery, the existence of the Portway is evidenced with documents, place names and in a few cases with physical paths on the ground.

Join Alastair Clark as he re-visits the images of his journey from Nottingham's Hemlock Stone to Mam Tor passing two places called Alport, one Porter Lane and the Portaway mine.

He finds that some parts of the route are very easy to locate and other sections very vague.

Speaker: Alastair Clark
