Derbyshire Eco Centre - a big step forward!

The Derbyshire Eco Centre CIC Group (the CIC) is thrilled that our application to take on the lease of the Eco Centre, in partnership with the Institute of Quarrying (IQ) has been accepted by Derbyshire County Council, who own the site. IQ are the preferred lease holder and the CIC will have a sublease with IQ, to allow us to get going and to reduce the financial risks all round. There is obviously legal work to do with the County Council which will take a bit of time, so nothing is quite certain yet. This is a massive step forward and very exciting news.

There is lots of work going on to support arrangements for the hand over and bring new life back to the Eco Centre. It is really important now, to spread the word that we hope to be up and running later in the spring, and to advertise our first courses. Soon the Derbyshire Eco Centre will be a thriving Sustainability Hub once again, but this time we will be inviting a wider community to come and get involved, including businesses and younger people, and people wanting to use the space for their own courses or events.
